Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She was also the very first and youngest female to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was an Indian young sitar star. She is a student as well as child of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam in London New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha was only a teenager, has had an impressive recording and performing career. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has done so for a long time years. The year 1998 saw her debuted Anourag as her debut solo record. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated album Live at Carnegie Hall. As she's appeared on all the major stages in across the globe, she's stage career is extensive. Anoushka isn't just a performer. In 2002, she wrote the book Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is continuing to advance in her professional career, and will surely be other things to be expected from this talented lady. Anoushka Shankar is a British born musician who spent her childhood between London, Delhi and California. From the age of nine she began studying music under her father making her performing first on the sitar 4 years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka, who accompanied her father throughout his global tour, gained an impressive amount of experience. As a teenager, she appeared in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD as well as recorded with George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent have been acknowledged by the British parliament as among the finest in Asian Arts.
